Info Focus @MIFA 2020

Animation! Ventana Sur, together with the Ibero-American Animation Quirino Awards (Spain) and Pixelatl Festival (Mexico), joined forces to create La Liga de la Animación Iberoamericana (the Ibero-American Animation League) with the shared objective of promoting the creation and development of audiovisual projects across the region.

In special alliance with the Annecy International Animation Film Festival and Market (MIFA), Ibero-American feature films and TV series projects were selected to be pitched in this special program La Liga Focus @MIFA.

During the virtual pitching session you will discover the awarded projects of Animation! Pitching Sessions 2019 and the winner of a special call made by La Liga.

THE LITTLE KITES

A world where the sky is real and the ground is just the imagination. Just like children explore the world down on Earth, the little kites explore their own world in the sky. Through different colors and shapes, they learn that flying will take they further, with joy, friendship and plenty of imagination.

FIRSTS

“Firsts” is an anthological series that tells the stories of Latin American women who were pioneers in their achievements and careers, all of them from different areas of knowledge and culture that, until then, had been reserved exclusively for men. These women, unhappy with the world they had to deal with, managed to change the history.

CODA

Nina, a rat-girl, lives with her kind in an underground village ruled by a harsh tyranny, believing the universe ends at the limits of their sight. One day she escapes that world and gets to CODA, a colorful place inhabited by fluffy, white rabbits. She’s rejected, but Lucas, a shy rabbit helps her to start a new life.

O REINO DOS PASSAROS

The Bird King rules over a war-ridden court of men who can shapeshift into birds of prey. When the king’s brother murders him in an attempt to take the crown, the kingdom plummets into a new wave of violence. Sete Penas is the king’s only son, and his father’s death awakens darkness inside of him.

WINNIPEG, THE SEEDS OF HOPE

Spanish Civil War finished. 500.000 people moved to France. The French Government put them in refugee camps. Chilean poet Pablo Neruda tried to save as much people as possible. Julia, a little girl, and her father embark on the Winnipeg, a ship destination Chile, and become one of “Neruda’s daughters”, as the 2.200 refugees called themselves.
